'6'

Turn your device upside down, while turning off the auto-rotation (obviously :p), and you’ll see how a ‘6’ looks like a ‘9’. Pretty old example, right? Let’s try something else.

The picture below is the perfect example of, how important a perspective is and how it leads to further misconceptions.

Similarly, the series of events taking place in our lives has got multiple perspectives to examine the situation. The depth of each and every perspective is directly proportional to the events of experience we have had in the past and their resulting effects on our lives.

Let’s take another example, (coz it’s always easier to understand with one)

Suppose a person lost his amazing job in this pandemic. The perfect pay scale, healthy work environment, work-life balance, and of course the perks (Sounds like a government job, right?).

Now, some of the possible perspectives towards this situation would be-

Perspective 01: Depression (Because that’s the easiest one to opt for)

The person starts to overthink about his loss and with time, this loss affects his physical, mental, and most importantly psychological health. Which in turn, would leave him with much lower self-esteem and self-doubt. He’d start blaming himself for the loss and all these series of events would ultimately incline him towards the negative aspect of the situation while making a blind spot for all the possible optimism.

Perspective 02: Optimism

The person starts to understand the depth of the situation, feels bad for some time (obviously, they’re human too) but doesn’t blame himself for the same. Rather, he thinks about the positive side of the situation, like - what are the things that he missed while doing this job? He has all that time for himself now. He’ll get enough time to stay back and take care of his family. The extra things that he always wanted to do to enhance his CV, now is the time for it.

In both situations, we can see how a different perspective can have a totally different outcome, and would further have relative effects on our lives. All of us would agree to this because this is human nature.

Whenever something is taken away from us, we are stuck within the vicious circle of thoughts which keeps us tangled to the loss and our reflex pessimism worsens the situation.

Whereas, if we manage to see the other side of the situation, we’ll have a totally different approach which would further ignite the optimism within us towards the same situation.

Perspective is what differentiates one person from the other. Everyone goes through a hard time, but it totally depends on the way someone handles that situation. Our perspective towards everything in life is all that matters in the very beginning, which would further enhance the results in the end.
